FSM Available on App Store and Google Play

PressPad_LOGO_synmbol_gradientWe have recently partnered with PressPad, a company that publishes e-zines as Apps via Google Play and App Store. Currently it is not feasible for us to invest and design our own app so this middle solution seems like an acceptable way to tap into that market.

For now this system takes the PDF of our magazine and publishes it as an App. There’s a clear drawback here because the PDFs cannot be scaled and so it won’t be very legible on small devices. However, it works nicely on larger devices. All issues are available as samples, so I invite you all to try it out.

Fantasy Scroll Available on Weightless Books

DefectiveByDesign.org

We are happy to announce that as of today, Fantasy Scroll Magazine is also available on Weightless Books.

Weightless Books is an independent ebooksite devoted to DRM-free ebooks of all sorts. You can read more about it on their about page.

We are particularly happy to see our magazine sold on their site for two reasons: we strongly believe they are awesome, and second, our readers can now purchase 12-month subscriptions and save. For only $9.99 you get a full year of wonderful fantasy and science fiction stories, and that, my friends, is pretty cool.

Here is the link to the subscription: Subscribe.

You can also purchase individual issues.

Enjoy!

ROUNDTABLE: New Short Fiction Markets

Recently, “Nerds of a feather, flock together,” kindly organized a roundtable discussion about new short fiction markets.

I spoke on behalf of Fantasy Scroll Magazine, and was joined by R. Leigh Henning of Bastion Magazine, and Ana Grilo and Thea James of Book Smugglers Publishing.

The topics included multiple issues faced by new short fiction markets, and the various tools we have to keep our readers engaged, our writers happy, and still run a viable business.

To read the entire discussion please follow: Roundtable: New Short Fiction Markets.

I’d love to hear your comments about this discussion.

Thank you,

Kickstarter Funded

I am happy to announce that our Kickstarter is funded! Woo-hoo!!

68 wonderful backers pushed us to 118% of our main target! Thank you all so much! Now our work begins…

We’ve already published our first issue for you and our Kickstarter teaser issue.

What’s next for you?

If you are a backer expect to hear from us over the next week. We will reach out to request the information we need to provide you with the rewards you selected.

What’s next for us?

For this year we have three more issues planned. For the next two we’ve already acquired a lot of great stories and we are working relentlessly on the interviews and other non-fiction features.

We expect only great things to come!

PS: Are you curious to see how our Kickstarter Campaign looked like? Check it out.
